Course Instructors

Sanchita Chowdhury Sanchita Chowdhury Trainer

Sanchita works as a Senior Educational Psychologist in a London borough as well as working for Emotionally Able. Following teaching primary aged children in London, she completed a doctorate in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology at the UCL-IoE. She went on to complete a post graduate diploma in mental health and parenting at UCL, whilst practicing as a psychologist and mental health professional in a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Sanchita has a special interest in supporting parents of children presenting with emotional well-being and behaviour difficulties, alongside working directly with children and young people with mental health and emotional difficulties.

Tom Laverty Tom Laverty Trainer

Tom started work as a residential social worker in a respite centre for children with complex learning needs and their families. He then worked as a teacher for 27 years in a school for children with severe learning difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. During this time he progressed to Deputy Headteacher, responsible for pastoral care, mental health and family support. He secured a 5 year Big Lottery Grant for and managed a family support project for children with complex needs and challenging behaviour. Tom is now a member of the Emotionally Able team supporting and training practitioners within specialist settings across London and nationally. He has a special interest in the mental health and emotional needs of children and young people with complex needs as well as the mental health of school staff.

Mark Fox Mark Fox Trainer

Mark is a consultant Educational and Child Psychologist with over 10 years experience of working with Emotionally Able. He has extensive experience of working with children with complex needs. He taught at a secondary and a special school before working as a Local Authority Educational Psychology Services. He was head of the National Advisory and Assessment Services at SCOPE, where he developed integrated models of assessment, and services for people with complex disabilities. He went on to be a senior lecturer at Essex University in conjunction with the Tavistock Clinic in London. Mark has been extensively involved in the training of Educational Psychologist and in particular developing a whole school approach to emotional well-being and mental health.

Course preparation
All course materials are delivered digitally. This means you will need to bring a device or download the materials before coming on the course.
Before the course you are required to complete a personal skills audit and also a setting audit. These are both available online through mentalhealthlead.com. If a colleague is also completing a course with us, then complete the setting audit in tandem.

You will be invoiced £800 plus VAT only if we have confirmation of DfE funding (we have applied for this course fee to be paid for by the DfE Mental Health Lead Training Grant).
